POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of the Transportation Bus Driver is vital in ensuring the safe transportation of students within the ResponsiveEd Arkansas Schools. This position requires a steadfast commitment to upholding stringent safety protocols while operating the school bus. Additionally, Bus Drivers may offer passenger assistance, including facilitating the boarding and disembarking process for passengers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Follow safety rules as students are boarding and exiting buses, and as they cross streets near bus stops.
- Comply with traffic regulations to operate the vehicle and its equipment safely.
- Maintain order among students during trips to ensure safety.
- Pick up and drop off students at regularly scheduled school locations, following strict time schedules.
- Report any bus malfunctions or needed repairs.
- Drive gasoline, diesel, or electrically powered multi-passenger vehicles to transport students between neighborhoods, schools, and school activities.
- Prepare and submit reports, including passenger counts, hours worked, mileage, fuel consumption, and fares received.
- Maintain knowledge of first-aid procedures.
- Keep bus interiors clean for passengers.
- Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations using telephones or mobile two-way radios.
- Regulate heating, lighting, and ventilation systems for passenger comfort.
- Escort small children across roads and highways.
- Complete required training and testing for school bus driver and aides.
- Perform assigned duties safely and efficiently while observing all legal requirements and safe operating procedures.
- Follow all written and oral instructions and route sheets.
- Obey all written policies and directives of the school district.
- Follow instructions for proper vehicle maintenance and upkeep.
- Report for drug/alcohol testing as required.
- Assist in emergency evacuation.
- Maintain student control and discipline.
- Keep a daily log of student behavior and actual pick-up and drop-off times.
- Keep the inside of the bus clean and orderly.
- Must maintain a current CDL at all times.
- Must maintain a current DOT physical.

Commercial Driver’s License Class B with air brakes, passenger, and school bus endorsements.

DOT Drug Test Program, FBI and ASP Background Check, Child Maltreatment Background Check
